Naturplus recently launched a flyer campaign in a bid to educate the masses and authorities concerned on reducing single use plastics.

In an astonishing revelation it said Sri Lankan supermarkets currently give some 40 million shopping bags to its customers every month and each bag can take more than 500 years to degrade.

“Many supermarkets have not educated their staff on how to control the situation. This seems to be the biggest issue while the customers and staff think that these are biodegradable bags. No one takes action to reduce this dangerous trend,” said Naturplus’ Mr. Mervyn Dias who is on a mission to reduce single use plastics in Sri Lanka through awareness and education. He has designed these email flyers in a bid to give a clear message to the public and create awareness on the impact it would cause to the environment.
